Superintendent's Message

Stephanie A. Brown, Ed.D.

Superintendent & Curriculum Director

As the cold weather begins to remind us to find our coats, hats, gloves and boots, we remember what it means to be prepared for winter weather in NJ.  Although having all four seasons is a wonderful experience that many of us take for granted, the winter months can be challenging when it comes to getting to school.  Since there are no hard and fast rules as to when or if the regular school schedule is disrupted due to weather, please know that I am committed to student and employee safety and I will make decisions based on the common good. I will also base my decision on my belief that having students in warm, safe and supervised schools is usually the best course of action. It is also important to note that the closure of school is a serious decision and one that is made with the safety of both students and staff in mind.

Decisions for school closings or delayed openings are in cooperation with the Milltown Police Department, Milltown Public Works Department and Superintendent of Spotswood Public Schools.  Consideration is given to weather and road conditions both locally and in surrounding areas, as many of our staff commute a distance to Milltown.  There are times that Spotswood High School may be open and Milltown may be closed, or vice versa.  You should always check the Spotswood Public Schools website for information on the high school.

Please make active use of our district website and district social media to stay involved in our school community and stay informed of changes in the calendar due to inclement weather.

Take care. Stay safe. Be well.

Yours in education,

Dr. Stephanie Brown
Superintendent
