New Jersey School of Character

I am very happy to announce that we received word on Friday that Joyce Kilmer School is now officially a New Jersey School of Character!

I would like to thank Mrs. Jackie Citro, our district Assistant Principal, and Mrs. Chelsea Devine, one of our 5th grade teachers, for their tireless efforts on the very involved, detailed, and specific application for this honor. Without their efforts, this honor would not have been bestowed on us. We would like to thank Dr. Brown and the Board of Education for always supporting us as we implemented the many programs that made this possible. Thank you! We are now eligible to apply for the distinction of a National School of Character.

I would also like to thank all of our amazing students, teachers, and parents that have embraced and championed our school's core values of CARES. Cooperation, assertion, responsibility, empathy, and self control are the words we have touted and used as our school's mantra for several years now, and the results of defining and ingraining these already existing traits into our school's culture has proven to bring our already close nit Joyce Kilmer and Milltown family even closer together to share in this honor. Our student organizations such as Student Council and the National Junior Honor Society and their leaders have also contributed to this honor through their tireless community service efforts and setting an example for their fellow school and community citizens.

It is with great pride that we share this news and this honor truly is the result of all our collective efforts!

Congratulations!
