Reopening Plan Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As spring approaches, the presence of students who once again fill our classrooms and hallways has provided us with reasons to remain optimistic as we continue working together through the pandemic. Despite the rising trends in COVID cases statewide, our schools remain steady in the number of cases being reported. Taking that into consideration and the recent comingling of cohorts, which reduces the need for an entire day of deep cleaning, the district is readjusting our reopening plan for April to eliminate virtual Wednesdays and bring back our students on-site for a 5-day week on an early dismissal schedule. This change will allow us to keep up the positive momentum we have built over the month of March toward a more typical school schedule. If your child is enrolled in the PV/JK Extended Day Program, please contact the school main office immediately to advise as to whether your child will be staying on Wednesday afternoons. More details related to our April schedule will be sent separately by the Principals.

Your cooperation in recognizing symptoms and keeping your children home when they are not feeling well has been instrumental in reducing the spread of the virus in our schools. As we move into Spring Break, please remember that NJ still requires a quarantine period due to travel and your cooperation in this regard is important so that we can continue our strides toward reopening on-site to a regular schedule for our students. Therefore to address any travel concerns related to Spring Break, there will be an exception through April 15th to allow students registered for on-site instruction to remain all remote without being marked as an unexcused absence.

I hope that during this Spring Break you and your family remain well and you are able to take the time to reflect, relax and enjoy yourselves.

Be well,

Dr. Stephanie Brown
Superintendent
