Veterans Day
Milltown Schools remembers Veterans Day with a special program on or close to the holiday that encourages students to invite a family member who has served in our military to join them at school that day.  Students at each grade level also participate in Veterans Day lessons that are meant to teach the next generation the value of freedom.
Take Your Child to Work
Milltown Schools encourages exploration of careers on this special day that is usually held the fourth Thursday of April.  Milltown excuses absences for students who provide prior notification to the attendance officer and submit a completed form outlining the day's activities within one week.  More information can be found on the website at Parents>Take Your Child to Work Day.
Juneteenth Recognition
Milltown Schools observes Juneteenth on the third Friday of June, per NJ law, or the federal holiday of June 19th, whichever date the Board deems is more suitable to that year's school calendar based on the last day of school.
Excerpt below from Bergen Record article:

In 2020, less than one year prior to the federal declaration of the Juneteenth holiday, Murphy signed legislation designating Juneteenth as a state and public holiday. However, instead of celebrating on June 19, the state observes the holiday on the third Friday of June each year.

Since the New Jersey state government made Juneteenth a state holiday before the federal government declared it a national holiday, the state will continue to observe it on the third Friday in June rather than whatever day the 19th falls on.
